What's new at UNATT? | Older | All News

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day 2016, UNATT, the United Nations Association of Trinidad and Tobago, extends best wishes to all members of the Media - journalists, publishers and broadcasters.

We recognise that a free Press is necessary for a democratic society, and ultimately helps to engender sustainable social and economic development - a goal of the United Nations organisation. As stated in Article 19 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers”.

UNATT appreciates the essential role of our independent, pluralistic Media in fostering freedom of expression.

UNATT is a non-profit organization, established to advance the objectives of human development, the promotion and maintenance of peace and respect for human rights. It was officially launched on October 24, 1996 and is a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). We promote and support the objectives of the umbrella United Nations System, such as attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
